Will military bases fill housing shortages with low-rise condos? How will rail transit affect existing and planned developments?

1809 Bachelot St., Honolulu, HI 96817

In 1939, Violet Kam established a center on Honolulu Harbor’s Pier 6 that not only helped people recuperate from tuberculosis, but also helped them learn, and earn money. Her compassion and persistence not only helped people recovering from debilitating illnesses, but also helped them improve their quality of life by creating a place for them to recover and a way for them to make a living.

On the strong foundation built by Violet, Lanakila has grown tremendously over the years. The organization currently serves more than 4,000 Oahu residents annually with programs and social enterprises that build independence, which in turn support our greater community.

Throughout the years, Lanakila Pacific has grown from one program into a family of distinct programs and social enterprises including Lanakila Rehabilitation Center, Lanakila Crafts, Lanakila Group Dining and more.

Meet Lanakila Pacific’s President and CEO Marian Tsuji and learn more about their many programs and services. See a demonstration one of their social enterprises: including custom production of silk screening, imprinting and embroidery.

We will also tour their Teaching and Learning Centers – a program for adults with disabilities and Lanakila Meals on Wheels – Hawaii’s largest and only island-wide meal service for seniors.
